Doug Cropper was impressed with the start and the finish of his first-ever Quad-City Times Bix 7.

The president and chief executive officer of Genesis Medical Center, who just got the job this spring, started 14,000 runners in the race and then held the finish-line banner for men’s champion.

“This is so exciting,” Cropper said. “It’s such a beautiful day, and to be able to start and finish, this is just great.”

Cropper saluted the many volunteers and the City of Davenport for the orchestrated effort before and after the event.
