Jessica Jennings, 15, of McCausland, will represent Iowa in the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen competition in Orlando, Fla., Aug. 12 to 16, according to the Miss Iowa Youth Program.

Jennings is the daughter of Bret and Julie Jennings. She is a sophomore at North Scott High School where she is ranked fifth in a class of 267 and holds a straight-A average. Her talent is lyrical jazz dance and her platform is “Blood Donation: Teens Giving the Gift of Life.”

A member of the North Scott dance team, Jennings has received dance scholarships to the Joffrey Ballet, Giordano, and STEPS to Broadway.

The Miss America’s Outstanding Teen is the little sister to the Miss America Organization and is in its fourth year of national competition.

The Miss Iowa Youth program has three levels of competition open to girls ages 6 to

17 who reside or go to school in Iowa. The purpose of the competition is to provide scholarships for the contestants, to promote community service and to provide speaking and

performance opportunities for participants.
