A 9-year-old Milan boy suffered a broken leg Saturday when he was struck by a vehicle after riding his bicycle into traffic, Davenport police said.

The crash occurred at 1:55 p.m. at 321 N. Division St.

Police said the youth was leaving the parking lot of the Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard convenience store on his bicycle. The boy cycled westbound across Division Street and was struck by a Jeep Cherokee that was in the far southbound lane on Division Street and could not stop in time.

The boy was taken to Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme Street for treatment.

No citations will be issued in the incident since the boy failed to yield for oncoming traffic.
