IOWA CITY — A University of Iowa wrestling recruit has been arrested for drunken driving and eluding police.
University Heights police say that Colby Covington was arrested at his home early Sunday morning. Police say he tested more than three times the legal limit.
Police say an officer saw Covington speeding and run a stop sign. The officer tried to stop Covington, but the wrestler continued driving at a high rate of speed to his house.
A preliminary breath test showed he had an alcohol level of 0.255 percent. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.
Covington, of Springfield, Ore., committed to wrestle for Iowa in April. He was 26-0 for Iowa Central Community College last year.
