Morning update: Jersey Ridge Road closure

Good Tuesday morning, Quad-Cities. At 6 a.m. it’s 61 degrees under fair skies in the Quad-Cities. Today there’s a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. The high today will be near 77 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. The low will be around 61 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Michael Phelps captured his third gold medal for Team USA in swimming at the Olympics last night while the men’s USA gymnastics team took bronze. Action continues today.

Road closings

• Jersey Ridge Road is closed between Kimberly Road and Lombard Street for repair work to the road surface. Access to businesses in the area still will be available. Drivers are advised to take alternate routes until the work is completed. The road should reopen late Friday.

• Another section of Jersey Ridge is scheduled to close at 8 a.m. Wednesday. The street between Middle Road and East 11th Street will be closed to allow a contractor to install decorative crosswalks. This portion of Jersey Ridge will be closed until further notice, although access to businesses will be maintained.

• Also, Rockingham Road from Ohio to Minnie streets in Davenport will be closed until further notice for sewer repairs.

• On Interstate 74 the roadway will be reduced to one lane on weekends until Sept. 19 for fog seal application. Work will only be permitted between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
