FOR TEENS: DJ Buddha will return to the teen club Energy on Saturday Aug. 16. Energy is a club open to 14- to 19-year-olds that plays top-40 music and features a large dance floor, a mezzanine area, multiple lounges, a game room and a V.I.P. area.
Energy enforces a strict dress code and provides a drug- and alcohol-free environment for teens.
It is open from 7 to 11:30 p.m. and located at 1405 5th Ave., Moline. Cover is $12.
FOR THE FAMILY: Movies in the Park will show “The Ant Bully” at 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16. The animated film is about a boy who is constantly beaten up by a bully and takes out his frustrations on an anthill.
The ants find a way to shrink the boy down to their size, causing him to learn life lessons before he helps save the day.
“The Ant Bully” features the vocal talents of Julia Roberts, Nicolas Cage and Meryl Streep.
The movie will be shown at Veterans Memorial Park, 1645 23rd St., Bettendorf. For more information, call (563) 344-4113.
SHOW TO SEE: Before Ya Maka My Weekend kicks off Friday night in The District of Rock Island, the Damn Well Betters will perform Thursday night at RIBCO, 1815 2nd Ave., Rock Island.
The Damn Well Betters are an indie, pop, rock band that draws its influences from The Cars, T-Rex, Spoon and Bruce Springsteen.
Cover is $4 for the 10 p.m. show, and Thursday is also 50-cent draft night at RIBCO.

SHE SAID WHAT?: Debra “Q. C. Banshee” Bozik on how she came up with her roller derby name, which channels the Celtic folklore of the banshee, who screams to let you know you’re about to die.
“I tipped my hat to my culture, my heritage. ... I just like to toy with the jammers (those who play the scoring position in roller derby) and anyone around me, and I just kind of kid that if they hear me and they know that I’m there, it’s over. They know that they’re done.”
