History gets a musical treatment this weekend with the opening of Quad-City Music Guild’s “Evita” at the Prospect Park auditorium in Moline Aug. 8-17.
Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, the rock opera re-creates the story of Evita Duarte (played by Sheri Hess), an Argentinian actress who becomes the wife of Juan Peron (Dave Arnold), the country’s dictator and president, simultaneously making her the most beloved and hated woman in the South American nation.
The story, told from the perspective of revolutionary Che Guevara (Bryan Tank), continues through next weekend.
