Moline police officer injured in accident

A Moline police officer was treated for minor injuries this morning after his squad car was hit by another vehicle.

The accident occurred at the intersection of 16th Street and 6th Avenue in Moline at 12:28 a.m.

According to police a driver failed to stop at a red traffic light and hit the police car. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene.

The suspect vehicle and driver were located a short time later in the 800 block of 17th St. where the driver was arrested and charged with suspicion of drunken driving and multiple traffic offenses. Police were not releasing the names of the drivers pending further investigation.  

The police officer was treated and released from Trinity Medical Center.
