A Moline police officer was treated for minor injuries Wednesday morning after his squad car was hit by another vehicle.

The accident occurred at the intersection of 16th Street and 6th Avenue in Moline at 3:15 a.m. The police officer, Lt. John Hitchcock, was treated and released from Trinity Medical Center.

According to police, Christopher Zinanni, 35, of East Moline, failed to stop at a red traffic light and hit the police car. Zinanni then fled the scene.

He was located a short time later in the 800 block of 17th Street where he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident and fleeing police.
