From the city of Davenport:
Crews will begin paving operations on the Northwest Boulevard Paving Project on Monday with the two easterly lanes of Northwest Boulevard from Cedar Street to Ridgeview Drive. To allow space for concrete mixers to stage and unload during the pour, northwestbound Northwest Boulevard traffic will be rerouted onto the south shoulder which currently carries southeastbound traffic.
As a result, Northwest Boulevard between 67th Street and Ridgeview Drive will be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic, controlled by flaggers, for the entire day. Delays should be expected. The public is strongly urged to use alternate routes. Inclement weather the day of the pour will push the schedule back one day.
The paving will be placed using a slip form paving machine, so crews should have that portion of the paving completed by the evening. The contractor expects approximately 15 concrete trucks per hour, so please be patient if you must travel through this area and be prepared to be in amongst the trucks.
Currently, neither northbound Pine nor southeastbound Northwest Boulevard traffic can turn east at the intersection of Pine and Northwest Boulevard. This restriction remains in effect. Northwestbound Northwest Boulevard traffic will remain on the old pavement and southeastbound on the west shoulder, except during actual paving operations.
The concrete being used on this project is an Iowa Department of Transportation mixture that has been curing in about 30 hours, so driveway access inconvenience should be very minimal. Temporary crushed rock accesses will be left in place until the day of the concrete pours, and the driveways will be inaccessible for approximately 30 hours after the paver goes by a given location. Please consider alternate parking locations now so that you are prepared to park elsewhere when the time comes to pave. Emergency services will be allowed in at all times and the contractor will assist them in any way necessary to get help where it needs to go.
About two weeks remain on storm sewer work, which is primarily confined to the area between 76th and 72nd streets on the east side of the project. This work includes removal of existing sewers that cross Northwest Boulevard and also some of the side streets, so some delays and short traffic weaving should be expected.
New traffic signals are in the process of being installed at Ridgeview Drive and at 67th Street.
The soil for the new eastbound off ramp for I-80 is nearly to grade, and additional work along the south shoulder of the existing ramp will be taking place over the next two weeks in order to make room to tie the existing ramp into the new ramp.
Removal of the existing easterly lanes of pavement continues northward from Ridgeview Drive toward 76th Street. The contractor expects to be able to pour the two easterly northwestbound lanes within the next three weeks. Please use the signed detours or an alternate main street and avoid residential cut-throughs.
