Tabor selected as new associate judge in Clinton County

Jackson County Attorney Phil Tabor will be the new associate court judge for Clinton County.

Phil Tabor will take the place of Arlen Van Zee, who is retiring Oct. 2.

Tabor was the county attorney from 1990 through 2000 and again from 2007 through the present. In the interim, he was in private practice in Maquoketa.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa in 1981. He received his law degree from the University of Wyoming in 1984.

Associate court judges handle lower-level felonies, drunken driving cases, misdemeanors and some civil actions.
