DES MOINES — Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate jumped .3 percent in July, according to Iowa Workforce Development.
The unemployment rate was 4 percent in June but climbed to 4.3 for July.
Iowa had an unemployment rate of 3.8 percent a year ago.
The number of working Iowans dropped from 1,605,300 in June to 1,605,200 in July, while the number of unemployed people rose from 66,900 in June to 72,500 in July.
Workforce development officials blamed the rise in unemployment on floods and storms that disrupted Iowa businesses throughout the summer and the housing slowdown.
