Davenport police were investigating an accident Sunday in which a bicyclist was struck by a car.

The accident happened shortly before 6 p.m. at 4th and LeClaire streets, police said. The bicyclist, who was staying at the Howard Johnson Hotel nearby at 3rd and LeClaire streets, apparently was riding the wrong way on 4th Street, a one-way, when he was hit by a car that left the scene.

A Medic Ambulance arrived and emergency workers helped the man into the ambulance while his black bicycle lay on its side. He was talking with emergency workers when the man limped into the ambulance, where he was interviewed by police officers.

A witness told police officers that the car involved in the accident was a white Toyota Corolla.

Anyone who has information about the accident should contact Davenport police.
