Boy drowns in boating accident

A toddler drowned Friday after a boating accident on the Rock River.
Carter L. Tjarks, 2 1/2-year-old son of Lacey Hatcher and Steve Tjarks of Fairbury and Geneseo, Ill., was pronounced dead by the Rock Island County coroner, according to Henry County Sheriff Gib Cady.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo, Ill.
