OAKVILLE, Iowa  — Three women are accused of looting items from homes flood-damaged homes in Oakville.

Penny Stephens, Adelia Belokopitovs and Lenya Keller, all of Oakville, have each been charged with third-degree burglary. Officials with the Louisa County sheriff’s office say a resident reported seeing people in a pickup truck removing items from other residents’ yards at about 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 12.

A deputy found the truck loaded with various items parked outside a house. Authorities say the deputy heard a noise inside the house and found the women beneath the basement stairs.

Items found in the truck included cases of water intended for flood volunteers, home electrical equipment and copper wiring.

The women also were charged with fifth-degree theft, trespassing and possession of burglary tools.
