Officers will be watching for drivers operating unsafe vehicles, driving with a suspended or revoked license, transporting open alcoholic beverages, or driving under the influence as they conduct road safety checks in Rock Island County this weekend and the weekend of Aug. 29. In Illinois, alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 40 percent of fatal motor accidents.
