MAQUOKETA, Iowa — A Tennessee man who was crop dusting some fields in rural Maquoketa went down in a hayfield Sunday afternoon, but there were no injuries.
Jackson County Sheriff Deputy Terry Roling said Richard Davis, 39, of Dyresburg, Tenn., was crop dusting some soybean fields when the plane developed mechanical trouble. He set the plane down in a nearby hayfield owned by Bill Miller, 30979 12th St.
There was damage to the 1997 Air-Tractor crop duster, including a bent propeller and damage to the back tire, but no injuries. The hayfield had minor damage.
The deputy said the pilot was flying out of the Monticello Airport.
Reports show the plane went down at 9:22 a.m., and the sheriff’s office was notified at 3:57 p.m.
