IOWA CITY — Fire officials say no one was injured when hundreds of students were evacuated after small fire broke out in a University of Iowa dormitory.
The fire broke out around 10 p.m. Monday in a room on the fifth floor at Burge Hall, the school’s second-largest dorm with space for over 800 students.
Students were allowed back into the dorm about an hour later.
Fire officials say the fire was caused when bedding material touched a light bulb in a floor lamp. Damage was limited the room where the fire started.
