A federal jury found a Davenport man guilty of trafficking in crack cocaine Wednesday after a trial in U.S. District Court, Davenport.

Aaron William Anderson Jr., 26, is facing a mandatory prison sentence of 20 years to life.

Anderson was charged in February with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine base.

On Feb. 13, Anderson possessed five grams or more of crack cocaine.

According to the criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court, Davenport, about 40 grams of crack cocaine were seized during a search of Anderson’s home on Feb. 13. There also was evidence the crack was being manufactured in the kitchen area. The crack cocaine was found in a Pyrex measuring cup in a cupboard above the kitchen sink.

After his arrest by Davenport police, Anderson escaped from an interview room at the police department because a lock malfunctioned on the interview room door.

Anderson was caught April 23. Because of that escape, he faces a possible enhancement of his federal prison sentence.
