UPDATED: Two people were killed in an early morning house fire in east Davenport.

Firefighters were called about 6:15 a.m. today to 1107 E. Central Park Ave., after a neighbor reported seeing flames inside the home.

When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke coming from the brick house.

According to Davenport Fire Marshal Mike Hayman, a man and a woman were taken from the house within five minutes of firefighters’ arrival and taken to Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme Campus where they later were pronounced dead.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in about 15 minutes.

The fire was contained to the front room with heavy smoke damage throughout the house, Hayman said.
