Man charged in accident with police car

A Davenport man faces charges after the pickup he was driving collided with a Davenport police car.

The accident occurred  at 10:43 p.m. Tuesday at the insection of North Pine and West 3rd streets.

According to the Iowa State Patrol accident report, a 1995 Ford F150 pickup driven by Jeff Norton, 38, of Davenport was traveling southbound on Pine Street when it failed to stop at a stop sign at 3rd Street and collided with an unmarked police car, driven by Jennifer Brewer, 33, that was traveling eastbound on West 3rd Street.

After the accident Norton fled the scene and was later arrested at his home.  

Brewer was taken to Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, by Davenport police

officers.

Norton was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, failure to obey a stop or yield sign and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
