Let cyclists pay for lanes on city streets

I have an easy idea that would provide safety for people who want to ride bicycles on the streets. Motor vehicles pay for license plates, gas tax, and registration fees which are used to build our roads and pay for repair.

Roads were meant for fast motor vehicle travel and never meant for bicycle usage. Cities pay for bike paths. Bicycle riders do not choose to use these free bike paths when they put themselves in serious danger riding on a highway, and they cause a lot of accidents because drivers cannot always see them in time to slow down to pass.

My idea is to have bicycles pay the same price motor vehicles pay for in taxes and registration, and of course, license fees if they want to ride the same roads as motor vehicles. And the money they pay could go to building a special bike path alongside of the road vehicles travel on.

Bicycles should have to carry insurance to cover accidents they cause on roads other vehicles travel on.

Anyone using the roads should help pay for the roads, the same as vehicles do! Pay for a special bike path or stay off the roads vehicles pay to use.
