A pair of fires about 30 minutes apart kept East Moline firefighters busy late Friday.

The first call came about 8:30 p.m. at 637 25th Ave., according to Capt. Bruce Colmer. The fire, which appeared to be accidental, began in the living room.

The home sustained smoke damage but was not a total loss.

The second fire call came about 9 p.m. at Colona House apartments, 54 41st Ave. The fire was minor, Colmer said, and was caused by food burning on the stove.
