Good Monday, Quad-Cities. And its back to work we go. At 6 a.m. it’s 57 degrees with fog in the Quad-Cities. Today there’s a good chance for sprinkles, then rain, mainly after 10 a.m. The high will be near 60 degrees.

Tonight rain is likely before 1 a.m., otherwise there will be cloudy skies with a low around 43 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.  Sounds like it's time to break out the jackets.

Construction work to disrupt traffic on southbound I-74

Drivers on southbound Interstate 74 at the Iowa/Illinois state line can expect travel delays beginning tonight, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation, or Iowa DOT.

Construction work on a dynamic message sign scheduled to be installed will close one travel lane at all times and may fully close I-74 intermittently for up to 20 minute intervals from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights until Sept. 12. The open travel lane is restricted to a 12-foot width.

The Iowa DOT asks motorists to drive with caution and obey posted signs in the work area. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, obey posted speed limits, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.

Road work near Geneseo

Work on safety improvements begin today on the intersection of Illinois 92 and 92 five miles north of Geneseo, Ill. Crews will be installing a flashing beacon above the stop sign, rumble strips in the pavement and luminaries to help identify the intersection. Drivers should be alert for flaggers who will direct traffic when work operations encroach on travel lanes.

Road closures in Davenport

• Beginning today, East 12th Street will be closed at Christie Street for the installation of decorative crosswalks. Access to businesses in the area will still be available.  Motorists are advised to take alternate routes until the work is completed.

• Road construction is in high gear with more than two dozen projects affecting city and/or county roads in the Quad-City region. Check the list before you head out this morning for local closings. And check out our gas-price guide for the cheapest prices at the pumps in the Quad-Cities.
