Sexually violent man wins release

A former Keithsburg, Ill., man deemed to be sexually violent almost 10 years ago will get a conditional release, according to a ruling made Friday in Mercer County Circuit Court.

The release of Darin Brock, 38, will be determined at a hearing to be scheduled within 60 days.

Brock was found to be sexually violent during a bench trial in 1999. He has been in state custody receiving treatment through the Illinois Department of Human Services. Under the Sexually Violent Persons Committment Act his case has been reviewed on an annual basis.

Brock will stay in state custody until the conditonal release plan in finalized.

He was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 1990 for raping a 65-year-old Joy, Ill., woman after breaking into her home a year earlier.
