Blood center provides flu shots to donors

A pilot program offered by the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will help blood donors avoid getting the flu this year.

The blood center will provide flu shots for individuals who make two blood donations by the end of the year at donor centers in Davenport and Galesburg.

To qualify, donors must make their first donation before Oct. 31 and schedule a second donation prior to Dec. 31. Flu vaccine vouchers will be distributed only at donor centers listed below and will not be included as part of mobile blood drives. Vaccinations will be administered at donor centers at the time of the second appointment.

Donor centers participating in the program are:

n 5500 Lakeview Parkway, Davenport

n 555 N. Kellogg St., Galesburg, Ill.
