Morning update: New road projects begin today

Good Monday morning, Quad-Cities. Back to the old salt mine. At 6 a.m. it’s 52 degrees with fair skies in the Quad-Cities. Today will be mostly sunny with a high near 79 degrees with a southeast wind between 5 and 15 mph. Tonight there will be increasing clouds and a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m. The low will be around 59 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

 Road work causes nighttime lane closures on I-80, I-280

• Interstate 80 will be reduced to one lane in both directions from exit 280 to exit 301 beginning today. Work includes patching interchange ramps from exit 280 (Scott County Road Y-30) to exit 301 (Middle Road).  The work will take place overnight. Closures will not be permitted from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. or 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays. The project is expected to be completed by early November, weather permitting.

• Interstate 280 will be reduced to one lane in both directions from the I-80 interchange to the Illinois state line beginning today for crack filling on the interchange ramps. The work will take place overnights. The project also is expected to be completed by early November, weather permitting.

U.S. 61 reduced to one lane

U.S. 61 in Scott County is reduced to one lane for maintenance work. Workers will be out doing joint and crack sealing from Locust Street in Davenport north to Scott County Road F-33. Travelers will be assisted through the work area by flaggers and a pilot car. The open lane has a 12-foot lane width restriction in place. The roadway will be returned to normal when crews are not present. The project is expected to be completed by the end of October.

Liberty Avenue rock blasting delayed in Clinton

Rock blasting for storm sewer installation along Liberty Avenue in Clinton is scheduled to take place this week after being delayed last week. The blasting will be from 18th Place to 22nd Place along Liberty Avenue. This work could be completed by next week.

John Deere Road

Moline continues work on John Deere Road west of the 16th Street intersection with work scheduled to wrap up in mid-October. Work is being done one lane at a time to maintain traffic flow. Also, the contractor is working nights when lower traffic volumes allow closing additional lanes.

Utica Ridge Road project pushed back

That Utica Ridge Road project in Bettendorf has been pushed back to Oct. 13. Work will take place between Spruce Hills Drive and Tanglefoot Lane.
