Brothers arrested in overnight drug bust

Two men police believe to be brothers were arrested in Davenport early Monday for alleged drug possession.

Deangelo Jerome Downs, 26, of 1328 N. Gaines St., Davenport, was arrested for alleged possession of crack cocaine with intent to deliver. His bail was set at $50,000, and he was in the Scott County Jail Monday.

Also arrested was Derrick Dwayne Downs, 25, of 707 N. Gaines St., Davenport. He allegedly had 0.6 grams of marijuana in his possession, police reported. He also was in jail Monday. 

According to police, the car with the two men was detained at 12:34 a.m. during a traffic stop set up in the 1000 block of Gaines Street. The car interior smelled of marijuana, police said.

Deangelo Downs was found to possess 7.7 grams of crack cocaine, wrapped individually in 20 rocks.
