Good morning, Quad-Cities. At 6 a.m. it’s 68 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. Those gray clouds of Monday could bring us some rain late in the day. This morning will be mostly cloudy. Cloudy skies will continue throughout the day with a high of around 79 degrees. Tonight there’s a 60 percent chance of overnight showers with a low of 51 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Today we celebrate Columbus Day, the day Christopher Columbus arrived in the Americas in 1492.
Patching work restricts U.S. 61 to one lane in Louisa County
Concrete patching work on U.S. 61 just north of the Wapello/Louisa county line will restrict the roadway to one lane, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation.
The lane restrictions will alternate between the north- and southbound lanes depending on the work taking place. Flaggers will be in place to assist traffic. The roadway will be returned to normal when workers are not present. Work is expected to be completed by the end of October, weather permitting.
Utica Ridge Road in Bettendorf
Beginning today and continuing three to four weeks, Utica Ridge Road between Spruce Hills Drive and Tanglefoot Lane will be barricaded and narrowed to a single lane in each direction for concrete pavement patching. The middle inside lanes will be closed for construction first, followed by construction in the outside lane in each direction.
Other recent road work
• Bridge Avenue between East Colorado Street and East Dover Court is closed for sewer repairs. There will be signed detours at Bridge/Rusholme and Bridge/Central Park Avenue.
• Central Avenue in Bettendorf is being resurfaced. Two-way traffic will be maintained, but traffic delays could result where moving equipment is in progress. Watch for flagmen between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
• U.S. 61 in Scott County is reduced to one lane for maintenance work. Workers are doing joint and crack sealing from Locust Street in Davenport north to Scott County Road F-33. Travelers are being assisted through the work area by flaggers and a pilot car.
• Work on John Deere Road west of the 16th Street intersection. Work is being done one lane at a time to maintain traffic flow.
