The Salvation Army of the Quad-Cities is asking businesses and organizations to be Give Us a Day sponsors who choose a kettle location and a day to ring bells.

Individuals are encouraged to wear corporate apparel; company signage will also be displayed. In 2007, more than 30 area businesses, organizations and families participated in Give Us a Day.

Red Kettle campaign will run 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday from Nov. 14 to Dec. 24. Sixty percent of annual operation budget is funded by Red Kettle collections. In 2007, the local organization provided more than 22,000 nights of lodging; served 46,516 meals; distributed 8,286 toys; provided 22,303 gifts to nursing home residents and summer camp for 1,600 children as well as disaster relief, utility assistance, clothing and counseling to people in need. To participate, contact Sandi Burrichter at (563) 340-4056.
