DES MOINES — State officials have been urging eligible Iowans to make certain they've applied for federal economic stimulus payments if they haven't already gotten them.

The deadline to apply is today.

Gov. Chet Culver has said there's more than $11 million available to about 37,000 Iowans in unclaimed payments.

Culver says Iowans who owed no taxes and haven't filed returns for the 2007 tax year are still eligible for the payments.

Federal officials say there are more than 4 million low-income seniors and people with disabilities who are missing out on the stimulus program.
